SHADAKSHARI LOKESHVARA IV, 2009
acrylic on paper
38 x 32 inches (image, unframed)
Shadakshari is shown here in his bliss body (samboghakaya) which is indicated by his dress: the eight types of jeweled ornaments (crown, earrings, three types of necklaces, bracelets, arm bands and rings) and the five types of silk garments (shawl, scarf, skirt, sash and tie that holds the jewels of the crown together).
The bliss body or body of visionary enjoyment is one of three bodies of an enlightened Buddha, the other two are the body of truth (dharmakaya) and the physical body (nirmanakaya).
